Mens Counselling Brisbane
At Touch The Edge Counselling - We TOTALLY get men and can relate to how men act and feel
Men often feel that they need to be acting and behaving a certain way and listening to or understanding their own inner voice and emotions is often pushed down while continuing to act the way that they think they should be acting or behaving. Men have used their own fathers or father figures, as role models and many of these men were emotionally at arms length and did not express real emotions ( except for an out pouring of passion directed at a sport team or hobby) The men of today are still modelling their behaviour on the men of yesterday. The roles and boundaries for men in society have shifted and often men are confused as to how they should be acting or feeling. Are they expected to still behave in a traditional manner or are we all now about gender equality ? There are still expectations for mento be tough and strong, but men are now more involved in their children's younger years and men have to learn how to show more compassionate and be gentle with their children from when they are infants rather than waiting for their children to be older so that they can go outside and ride bikes or kick a footy around. Women are also demanding certain behaviours from men and the messages are confusing Are men supposed be tough and rugged or are they supposed to cry when something is upsetting them? |

The Issues That Most Men Come To See Us For
Having a non judgmental conversation brings a lot of clarity to most of our clients and we can start to work out what is working in his life and what areas are not working and what changes he would like to bring about. When these areas have been identified then we can start working out the practical steps and what tools are needed to make the necessary changes. We are about being able to listen to you and then work out together what needs to change and how to make the changes so that the positivity starts to come back into your life. |
